I am near a large lake and I know the weather data I am pulling from 3 miles away can be way off depending on prevailing winds. no, matter how cold or mild it is outside. Ecobee compatible (ideally i would like my Ecobee thermostat to pull data I upload to the web from my weather station). But, through the fall, winter and spring, when we're home and in the "Home" comfort profile, the ecobee seems to always be able to know exactly when to kick the heat on and turn it off and keep our house at just the right temp. I asked Dark Sky's support about this and was met with the generic. I've been following Dark Sky's website for weather reports in Southern California and it is consistently off by about 5 to 8 degrees F for the highs of the day.

I've had mine for over a year and half now and only use it for heat. I noticed my weather was off as well and found out from Ecobee support that they use Dark Sky.

Its products are easy to install and use, and they mostly stay out of my. But it must also learn this at different outdoor temps as it would be different depending on the weather. Ecobee, via an Alexa-integrated smart thermostat and security system, has made my house both safer and more comfortable. The ecobee learns how long it takes to heat and cool your home, this is well know. The ecobee learns how long it takes to heat and cool your home, this is well know. I guess until ecobee figures something out, you can’t go by ecobee for accurate temperature and humidity readings. 5° temperature difference, but an unbelievable 26% difference on humidity. It’s hard to believe that the closest weather station that ecobee uses is that far away. My city is pretty big with lots of growth over the last several years, so I’d assume that there would be more stations that ecobee could use. No wonder the temperature and humidity are way off. I finally called ecobee since they didn’t reply to 2 separate emails (only automated replies) and one of the reddit ecobee moderators I messaged didn’t reply either.Īnyway, ecobee stated the closest weather station to my address is over 9 miles away.
